Situation
Zambia is a vast plateau bordered by Angola to the west, Zaire to the north, Tanzania to the north-east, Malawi to the east, Mozambique to the south-east, Zimbabwe and Botswana to the south.

Climate
Although Zambia lies in the tropics, the height of the plateau ensure that the climate is seldom unpleasantly hot, except in the valleys.
It is cool and dry in the winter season (May to September), hot and dry in summer (October and November) and even hotter in the rainy season (December to April).

Languages
Official Language: English Other: The main languages are Nyanja, Tonga, Bemba, Lozi, Laonde, Luvale and Lunda.

Currency
Zambia’s unit of currency is the Kwacha (K) which is divided into 100 Ngwee.

Health Precautions
Prophylactics/anti-malaria medication is a necessity for visitors to Zambia. A yellow fever certificate required for anyone arriving from or transiting infected areas.
