Rail - The Pride of Africa:
Experience the extravagant elegance of old world rail travel on
what has been billed as the most luxurious train in the world.
Rovos Rail relives the 20s and 30s as it tracks pioneer routes
through some of the most spectacular scenery in Africa. Two trains
of 20 carriages each have been splendidly rebuilt with meticulous
attention to detail, and steam, diesel or electric locomotives
are used at various stages of the journey. Rovos Rail’s
suites are the most spacious in the world, with en-suite bathrooms
and lounge areas, and fitted with wood panelling, period Edwardian
features, air-conditioning and modern conveniences. On each journey,
you will disembark from the train to experience regional attractions,
but mostly accommodation is on board. A maximum of 72 passengers
means that the facilities are never crowded and an exclusive experience
is ensured. Rovos Rail offers safaris from Cape Town to Pretoria,
Pretoria to Durban via Swaziland, Pretoria to Victoria Falls /
Livingstone, Cape Town to George, as well as special excursions
to Swakopmund and Dar es Salaam. Two classic Convair 440 Aircraft
are used in conjunction with the rail safaris, as well as for
air safaris. |
