The Ox-wagon Trail (8 days):
Follow the ox-wagon route of old from the bushveld to the Indian Ocean coastline in Mozambique on this historical self-drive journey. On Day 1 depart Johannesburg and spend your first 2 nights at romantic Timamoon Lodge or sophisticated Highgrove House near Hazyview. On Day 3 take a scenic drive to Jock Safari Lodge in the heart of the Kruger National Park, located along the old ox-wagon trail into Mozambique. After 2 days of spectacular game viewing, set off by road for Maputo in neighbouring Mozambique. Overnight at the Holiday Inn or classic Polana Hotel and explore the city of Maputo, renowned for its prawns and vibrant nightlife. On Day 6 you may choose to hire a catamaran and enjoy a relaxing day on nearby Inhaca Island, soaking up the sun. After a second night in Maputo, return to South Africa, where you spend a night at the charming Jatinga Country Lodge before driving to Johannesburg.
