Situation
Situated at the southernmost tip of the African continent within the subtropical
belt of high pressure, stretching from the Limpopo River in the north to Cape
Agulhas in the south.
Climate
A subtropical location on either side of 30°C, which accounts for the warm
temperate conditions it enjoys. The country falls squarely making it dry, with
an abundance of sunshine.
Languages
Besides the 11 officially recognized languages, there are scores of others because
South Africa is the crossroads of southern Africa. English is widely spoken.
Currency
The monetary unit in South Africa is the Rand (R) which is divided into 100 cents
(c).
Health Precautions
No vaccinations or inoculations are required. If however you have traveled through
a yellow fever endemic areas such as West Africa prior to your arrival in South
Africa, a vaccination will be required.
