Kaokoveld
and Damaraland:
In
northern Namibia, amidst the arid vastness of Kaokoveld and Damaraland,
the desert rhino and elephant can be found, adapted over centuries
to this mountainous terrain. Ancient dry riverbeds course their
way through the landscape, whilst the occasional well supports
a community of the nomadic Himba people. Here, the Brandberg Mountain
forms a distinctive landmark, whilst Twyfelfontein, with its wealth
of rock engravings, and other geological wonders can be explored.
Along the Angolan border, the mighty Kunene River carves a verdant
swathe through the desert, creating a surprising oasis to explore. |
