Situation
Located on the southeast coast of Africa, bound by Swaziland to the south, South
Africa to the southwest, Zimbabwe to the west, Zambia and Malawi to the northwest
and Tanzania to the north.
Climate
Mozambique has a tropical climate with two seasons; a wet season (October to March)
and a dry season (April to September). Climatic conditions however vary depending
on altitude.
Languages
Official Language: Portuguese.
Other: a variety of local tribal languages and English are also widely spoken.
Currency
Mozambique’s unit of currency is Meticais (MT) which is divided into 100
Centavos.
Health Precautions
Prophylactics/anti-malaria medication is a necessity for visitors to Malawi. A
yellow fever certificate required for anyone arriving from or transiting infected
areas.
