Malawi:
This little known gem of a country offers a truly authentic experience in the heart of Africa. Dominated by the vast Lake Malawi, the country offers many scenic highlights, from beaches and lakeshore villages, to majestic mountains and plateaus with bracing air, rolling hills and magnificent rivers and wetlands. With its sparkling waters and diverse fish life, Lake Malawi is a magnet for travellers. Along the lake’s white sand beaches are excellent resorts, from where you can dive or snorkel in aquarium-like surrounds, or else explore the lake by catamaran or kayak. Lake Malawi National Park is a World Heritage Site and offers close-up viewing of dazzling fresh-water fish.

In the remote northern region of Malawi, 2 contrasting reserves, Nyika National Park and the Vwaza Marsh Game Reserve, embrace stunning scenery, wildlife and wilderness. Mountainous Nyika Plateau is one of Africa’s most scenic parks, with its montane grasslands dotted with animals. The hot rugged bushveld of the Vwaza Marsh Game reserve offers a marked contrast to the highlands, with its large variety of wildlife and birds.

Malawi, with its magical lake, diverse scenery and warm hospitality, combines wonderfully with neighbouring Zambia’s game-rich South Luangwa National Park.

Zambia and Malawi make for an excellent wildlife and scenic combination. You may choose to combine a stay in the Luangwa Valley with a relaxing stay on Lake Malawi, or take in the scenic highlands of Malawi as part of a cross-country circuit.
