Yvette Goosen was born in Johannesburg in South Africa where she completed her schooling. In 1994 she moved to Pretoria and completed her BCom Hotel & Tourism Management Degree at the University of Pretoria, as well as her BCom (Hons) Tourism Management Degree.

Towards the end of 1997 she met Phillip Lategan, who was at that time Afro Ventures’ Sales & Marketing Director at a Cocktail function at the University and was offered a position as Sales & Marketing Coordinator. Following the merger of Afro Ventures and CC Africa in March 2000, she spent most of her time looking after the communication needs of CC Africa’s overseas representatives. In September 2001 she resigned from CC Africa, due to the birth of her first daughter. She worked part time until October 2003 when she decided to complete her Certificate in Estate Agency. Yvette marketed & sold townhouses in the Welteverden Park area for nearly 5 years during which she also gave birth to her 2nd daughter. In July 2008 she decided to return to the Tourism Industry and was offered a position in the Product Department at Journey Beyond. Her current responsibilities include assisting the Product Director Sally Moon with the maintenance of the product side of the reservations system and negotiating rates with suppliers.

As a child Yvette traveled both locally & internationally. In South Africa she visited the Kruger National Park, Nelspruit, Drakensberg, Rustenburg, Plettenberg Bay, Knysna, Umhlanga, Southbroom, Sinkwasi, Margate, East London, Port Elizabeth, St Francis Bay, Oyster Bay, Port Alfred, Hogsback, Bloemfontein, Kimberley, Warmbaths (Bela Bela), Sun City in North West Province, Pilansberg and also traveled to Cape Town with the Blue Train. Internationally she has traveled to Holland, Austria, Luxembourg, Germany, Belgium, France, London, Euro Disney, Comores, Seychelles and the USA.

She has spent a week on her uncle’s boat exploring the water channels of Holland, has visited Niagra Falls in Canada, has explored the Okavango Delta via mokoro boat and walking safaris, she has been on a 7 day overland safari in Botswana, sleeping in a tent in the middle of the bush and honeymooned in Mauritius!

During her career at Afro ventures/ CCAfrica, she also visited Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, traveled on Rovos Rail, visited Londolozi in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve and also visited Phinda situated in the lush Maputaland region in northern KwaZulu-Natal, bordering the Isimangaliso / Greater St Lucia Wetland Park.

Yvette describes her travels to Africa as being a true adventure. Africa with its wide open spaces, magnificent wildlife, tranquility and natural beauty, plus the diversity of people and cultures makes it a dream destination. She would recommend the many wonderful African destinations to potential visitors who are seeking “a holiday with a difference”.
