Tanya was born and grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa. Growing up, family holidays alternated between road trips to the Kruger National Park, beach holidays on the Natal Coast, weekends at Sun City and golf trips to Swaziland. During her school days, Tanya spent many weekends and holidays with a very close friend and her family in Mozambique, Knysna, Sodwana Bay, Aliwal Shoal (quoted as being one of the top ten dive sites in the World) and along the coast of Africa diving some of our best known reefs. Her overseas family holidays have taken her to Mauritius, New Zealand, Vanuatu, Thailand, London, France and Dubai!
On completion of her schooling, Tanya decided to pack her bags and head for Australia!! She flew into Perth and spent the next six months backpacking her way around the country before arriving in Sydney where she settled until the end of the year. |

On her return to South Africa, she decided to pursue a career in the service related industry. She enrolled to complete an Advanced Diploma in Hotel Management and Catering – something she had wanted to do her whole life. At this point, Tanya had no idea what opportunities lay ahead of her and she put her heart and soul into her studies.
In order to complete her course, she needed to commit to a six month practical in which she could demonstrate what she had learnt in the classroom. It was at this point that Tanya looked toward the bush, and applied for a job at Idube Game Lodge in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve. She spent the next eight months working with an amazing team who helped her to appreciate the industry she had decided to join. Her love for the bush grew tremendously and to this day, she cannot go longer than a few months before she has to return to the bush for her “little fix”!! |

Due to family commitments, Tanya returned to Johannesburg, but vowed to herself to always be involved in the African bush. It was then that she joined the team at Mix in the Reservations department for their properties, Ten Bompas Hotel in Johannesburg, Honeyguide Tented Safari Camps in the Manyeleti Game Reserve and The Outpost in the Kruger National Park. She spent the next 4 years working in reservations and then in the sales and marketing department for Mix.
In 2007 she decided to move on and find a job in which she could grow, increase her knowledge and further her career. She joined the Journey Beyond sales team in January 2007. Since working with Journey Beyond, she has had the opportunity to visit Botswana and the Seychelles. Through friends she has made along the way she has also visited and experienced a number of South Africa’s best Game lodges. |
