Tim Cartwright was born in Cambridge UK, and grew up there before moving to Johannesburg with his wife in June 2009. Tim has travelled extensively throughout the world including Australia, New Zealand, India, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Russia, the USA, South Africa, Botswana and most of Europe.
The first time Tim came to South Africa was back in 2002 when he spent 6 weeks travelling through Durban, the St Lucia wetlands, Swaziland, the Kruger National Park, and Johannesburg before driving himself to Maun through Gaborone, Serowe and the Kalahari salt pans and returning via the Waterberg. He has Africa in his blood and has been back on more than one occasion before making the big decision to relocate..
Tim started his career in Travel soon after returning from his first Africa trip, when he joined STA Travel as a reservations consultant,

tailoring many expansive and interesting trips for all types of clientele. After working with the Cambridge office for 3 and a half years he was promoted to manage his own branch in Norwich where he looked after 4 consultants and started to get more involved with local marketing and school travel workshops. In his final year at STA Travel, Tim moved to Earls Court.
In March 2006 he moved into the Business travel arena working for BCD Travel where he started to look after Apple Inc’s European executives. A very demanding and pressurised environment in which Tim exceeded beyond expectation. Sadly BCD Travel bid Tim farewell earlier this year when he decided to move to Johannesburg.
Tim has now been in South Africa for 3 months and is already making use of his proximity to all the wonderful places in the county, he has spent his weekends in the Waterberg,

Kosi bay, Nelspruit, and Pilanesberg National Park, has taken day trips to the Lion and Rhino park in the Cradle of Humankind, and has a goal of seeing a new part of the country every other weekend. He has already ear marked Victoria Falls and Zimbabwe’s Hwange National Park for his first vacation.
“It never ceases to amaze me how many amazing places are all together here at the end of the African Continent. You can have the game viewing experience of your life at Sabi Sands one weekend then travel down to Port Elizabeth and be on the garden route the next, finishing off at the Winelands and lastly Cape Town with The Table framing the horizon. South Africa has to be one of the best holiday experiences that everyone should have once in their life time! It’s great being back at the sharp end of the travel industry and being able to bring these experiences to a wider audience once again is a fantastic feeling.” |
