Lauren van Zanten was born in 1984 in Johannesburg, South Africa. She was fortunate enough to have had the privilege of going on regular holidays with her parents as well as school tours. Lauren participated in swimming, waterpolo and hockey during primary school and high school. Lauren received her colours for swimming and water polo, and was the 1st team waterpolo Captain, head girl at her primary school and she was a prefect at high school. Being one of four siblings made holidays across Africa very exciting. As a result of this she gained experience in luggage handling, transfers and finding the best possible solutions to keep everyone happy! Lauren has travelled to Kwazulu Natal, Cape Town, Madikwe, Sabi Sands Game Reserve, Mpumalanga, Botswana, Namibia, Malaysia and Singapore.
Lauren worked part time as a waitress and hostess at a restaurant for fours years after high school.

Customers would read travel magazines while waiting for their food which sparked Lauren’s dream of one day being involved in the travel industry. After matriculating in 2002, Lauren decided to study BCOM Marketing Management at the University of Johannesburg. In 2003 Lauren finished in the top 15% of her class and in turn became a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society. She completed her Honours in Marketing Management in 2006 with distinctions gained over the years in Marketing Management, Marketing Communications, Logistics Management, Business Management, Interpersonal Communication, Statistics, Accounting, Computer Science, Brand Marketing and she finished the top of her class in Services Marketing.

decided to gain experience in advertising before pursuing her career in marketing. In 2007 she therefore joined the fast paced world of advertising as an Account Executive. Her duties included branding, brainstorming new ideas, creating briefs, below the line and above the line advertising, arranging road shows, launches, promotions and events. Her best experience in this position involved the organisation of a launch of a new camera at Mount Grace which included African drumming as well as a trip on a Hot Air Balloon. In 2008 she joined Journey Beyond and is now working in the Sales and Marketing department. Lauren feels privileged to live in Africa, a country filled with beauty and many possibilities. |
