Liezl Berrino was born in Somerset East in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. After finishing school Liezl decided to see the world, with an absolute love for children she enrolled to become an Au Pair.
Her first stop was Austria, where she took time out to study German and visit the surrounding countries. She then jetted off to the USA where she au paired in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, before returning home to South Africa.
On her return she decided to move to Johannesburg where she would pursue a career in the travel industry. With her heart set on working for a tour operator, Liezl began applying for jobs, |

in the interim she took a temporary position in the reservations department for a well known game lodge in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve – Chitwa Chitwa. Soon after starting at Chitwa Chitwa she was offered a position with Value South Africa, where she assisted in the planning of itineraries and even managed to pick up a little bit of Spanish. Wanting to further her career, Liezl then joined safari outfitter Abercrombie & Kent where she spent the next eight years consulting. During her time at Abercrombie & Kent Liezl dealt with FIT’s, groups, incentives and brochure tours, before moving into the database department where she dealt with suppliers, rates and maintaining databases.

In 2009 Liezl joined the Journey Beyond team in our product department, where she assists Sally Moon in updating and maintaining our reservations system.
