Anja
was born in South Africa and grew up in Johannesburg until she
moved to Germany with her parents when she was 10 years old. She
completed her schooling in Germany and went on to complete a Degree
in Business Economy including tourism studies at the University
of Applied Sciences. In 1994 as part of the tourism studies she
came to South Africa for a practical training at the Vineyard
Hotel in Cape Town, where she met her husband.
She then returned to Germany and after completing
her studies went on to work in the Accounts Department of Daimler
Benz Inter Service. While staying in Europe she and her partner
took the opportunity
to travel within Europe – they also toured the United
States and

Canada, as both love to travel. After their marriage the couple
decided to live in South Africa where Anja started working in
the incentive industry. With 6:30 Gondwana she accompanied groups
throughout South Africa, Botswana, Namibia and Zimbabwe as well
as Zambia. After 1 year she was appointed senior consultant and
after another 2 years she decided to move on and joined Into Africa,
another incentive company, where she remained for the next 4 years.
In this time, she once again accompanied groups into Southern
Africa; Botswana, Namibia and Zambia and also went through the
merger of Into Africa with safari tour operator Afro
Ventures and later through another merger with Conservation

Corporation Africa (CC Africa) in March 2000.
She remained in the position of Team Leader for Safaris and
Tours in the Groups Department of CC Africa until the birth
of her son Theo and for another year thereafter at which time
the family moved to Johannesburg and Anja joined the Reservations
team at Journey Beyond in April 2005.
A
few of her favourite destinations within Southern Africa are
Botswana, Zambia, Chobe and Zimbabwe and one of her most memorable
travel experiences was the opportunity she had to ride an elephant
through Matopos in Zimbabwe and on another occasion getting
stuck on a safari vehicle in the middle of a herd of buffalo
in the Sabi Sands!
