Annah Kekana
Annah Kekana
Annah Kekana was born in Phake Ratlhagana, a small village in Mpumalanga. Once she had completed her schooling, she relocated to Johannesburg to study Computer Programming. Whilst looking for a job in the IT field, Annah was offered a temporary job in data capturing at the then CC Africa. She spent a few months as a data capturer, but Annah’s talents and personality where soon discovered and she was offered a permanent position as a Lodge and Office Administrator.

After a year and a half, she was promoted to FIT Reservations Consultant and so her travels through South Africa began……

As Annah had never travelled while growing up, this opportunity to visit form of the prime destinations I the country was an absolute privilege for her, one eye opening experience after the next.

After 5 years with CC Africa, Annah was offered a job at Wilderness Safaris in July 2005. This new challenge provided her with the opportunity to expand her knowledge of Southern Africa and visit more destinations. She spent a year as an intermediate consultant before a position opened in the explorations / expeditions division.

The explorations / expeditions division is where the adventurer / discoverer camping trips are put together –
experiences aimed at bringing guests closer to nature. Annah became a guide for these said trips, and during this time encountered many overseas visitors and made so many friends. She spent 3 years in this position before moving to Journey Beyond in April 2009. Annah’s favorite destinations include South Africa (Sabi Sands, Kruger, Cape Town and Garden Route), Botswana (Okavango Delta, Chobe, Linyanti, Central Kalahari and Makgadikgadi) and Zambia (Livingstone, Kafue and South Luangwa) and Namibia (Sossusvlei, Damaraland, Etosha and Skeleton Coast)
One of her favorite travel memories was when she was on an expedition trip, staying in small dome tents. A leopard came walking through their camp in the middle of the night. “We could see the leopard from the doors of our tents. They where small dome tents, with a flap at the door which you could open to look out. It was a perfect night, there was a full moon and so the camp was light up perfectly. The Leopard walked around our tents and even drank water from hand basins placed just in front of us! The moon shining, the leopard in camp - it was an amazing sighting, one that I will never forget”

Annah enjoys being in the travel industry, besides being privileged enough to travel herself she also feels that it is extremely fulfilling to know that she plays such an important part in putting together holidays that really do change people!! She loves to hear back from her clients, to read their feedback and know the joy and appreciation they feel. That’s what makes her look forward to coming to work everyday!
